@hermann Thanks Sally, it's always like this on a Saturday. @merrelyn Thanks for your comments - this is normal for Canterbury. It's very popular with tourists and has a large university population. Also the shops are better here! I never come here at Christmas as the streets are teeming with shoppers and I'm just not used to it any more.
You've caught the essence of Canterbury well. My daughter went to Uni there, so we were regular visitors for 4 years and you're right: great place but terrible to navigate at the busy periods!
What a great street scene, busy and full of colour and energy.. the street, itself, looks very interesting with it's setts/stone paving slabs and wonderful old buildings.
one great thing about taking photographs in tourist spots is that one becomes almost invisible.. with so many cameras and phones in use they take away the 'strangeness' of folk snapping away..
@jorlam Thanks very much for taking the time to comment - yes, I think I got away with snapping in the street purely because it's such a tourist attraction, mainly because of the Cathedral and all its associated history. Loads of people snapping away with iphones too!
@dawnee Thanks Dawn, guess I just looked like yet another tourist:)

@peadar Thanks Peter, Christmas crowds here are just a no no for me:)
