I chased this flutterby all over the garden - he sat high up in the cherry tree long enough for me to hold the camera over my head and get a snap - looking at it afterwards he seemed to be getting very huffy as if to say '... will you please just leave me alone...!' I was just so pleased to see a butterfly in October!
So awesome that you got such a great shot without aiming through the viewfinder. It's so clear and perfect. I love how he's got his head up looking back at you. Well worth the chase around the yard. He's a beauty.
My Dad told me they love it in the sun, and apparently they especially go for flowering ivy. So if you have any near you, that might be the spot! We found loads the other week covering a bush overgrown with flowering ivy.
