Beechy Hedge by filsie65

Beechy Hedge

The leaves are crunchily hanging onto the hedge and with the sun on them looking down our village, past my friends' thatched cottage I thought it looked more cheerful than much else around here after the weekend fog!

PS: HEY JUST REALISED THIS IS PHOTO NO 100!!! OMG I WOULD NEVER HAVE BELIEVED IT BACK IN AUGUST! OVER 1/4, NEARLY 1/3 THERE....
Thank you everyone who was kind enough to view or comment on my photos over the weekend - I'm delighted you liked them and even found something nice to say about them!
Wow. It looks like it''s on fire. Very nice.

the colour is spectacular! I imagine a thatched roof is common where you live but I'd love to see what they look like :)

I like the row of leaves, then the row of houses. Very interesting perspective.

@allred Ok, I'll see what I can do another day! You've guessed right - they are not uncommon, I think we have around 10-15 thatched houses, mine is nice traditional 1960s but I have friends who live in very old houses and love them. They have to - they are 'listed buildings' which means a legal responsibility to look after them and not change them structurally without permission (rare unless there's a problem) and they cost a fortune to insure! One house suffered 2 dreadful fires in recent years and has been rebuilt with a tiled roof instead... my friends had their roof re-thatched and considered it an honour despite the £25,000 price tag!!! This view was always the main road through, and has several old houses in it - these friends have said I can take a photo of theirs so it's first on my list! :)
