First Daffodil by filsie65

First Daffodil

Waited half a week and finally one of the buds from the bunch I bought myself has opened and I have something yellow to post!
I was told that these were my Nanna's favourite flowers - I was surprised until I, too, came to love the promise of sunny days that they brought with them!
Enormous thanks to everyone who has called by to look at or comment on my photos over the last few days, I'm always chuffed witless and you're all marvellous! =)
the picture was cleverly taken with some soft lighting which shows clearly all the shades of yellow: very delicate image

Phil you make me laugh! I love your phases like chuffed witless:). Before I met you through 365 I'd never heard the word chuffed but now it's my favorite new word!

Great shot for the challenge! It's so bright! I love how you have it against a black background. It makes the yellow stand out more. Well done!

@tooki Wish I could send you some! They are grown from bulbs I wonder if I'd be allowed to post one or if they would have customs regulations about cross-contamination....?! Their petals feel similar to forsythia petals, very soft, they don't have a strong smell but when they are massed in their hundreds they smell quite sweet! A few days old and they pong!! This one has already wilted and the other buds are out - but they are cheap enough and so cheerful they are lovely to have around, if only for a few days :)

@filsie65 oh they even have a nice fragrance....haha, thanks so much but definitely it will go through a lot of custom thing and quarantine etc etc. furthermore, it may not survive our scorching climate! however, once a year traders import narcissus for chinese new year which do look a little similar.

Love it Phil!
It's my favorite spring flower since childhood.
Here in Kentucky, where old houses have been torn down but the ground is left undisturbed, you will see clusters of daffodils blooming. I have to restrain myself from trespassing to pick me an armful!!
