Wanted a shot of this ploughed field for my 'earth-soil' shot, but didn't pass it until Friday. As you approach it, the field just looks flat, but when you turn to look from a different angle, it changes completely as the furrows become clear. So true for so much in life.. :)
It is unusual for me to venture out in the evenings but this week I am out an unheard-of 4 times (book club, committee meeting, supper & tonight an evening at the village hall with a holocaust survivor...) I have so much to catch up on both here and at home that it bewilders me, so I shall try to return comments then make my way as far down the home feed as I can as I interrupt the chores...
Thank you all so much for stopping by to view/comment on any of my shots - you are all super marvellous and scrummy too. Mwah! Have a cracking weekend whatever you get up to x
@bobfoto@tonydebont Morning Chaps! Yes, I was surprised too, but it seems Kitty Hart-Moxon tours to inform people about her experiences, including those at Auschwitz. It will be quite a night.
@tonydebont@filsie65@bobfoto The surviving eyewitnesses are getting fewer and fewer as they now pass away of old age. There are some amazing stories of luck, skill, even a few histories of humanity, from these survivors. In Norway young people have for a couple of decades been bussed to Auschwitz and other camps accompanied by survivors to tell their stories.
love the POV, I find myself imagining the smell of the turned soil. I imagine it would be difficult to hear from a holocaust survivor, I find the older I get to more overly sensitive and emotional I am. I found some of the displays and information at sites around Berlin had me very moved.
I was honored to bring a survivor to the school where I taught. She was amazing! She even walked among the students to show them her number. I know I will never forget her or her words. I hope they never do. The picture is a great analogy to life. It is never smooth although we work really hard at making it appear that way.
Your field photo tells more than meets the eye....I love looking down at the fields from an airplane. So many coloured patches like Grandma's quilt. My grandmother's mother's family are from Belgium...they told my mother stories of the holocaust...what a devastation time to have lived.
What a great shot, Phil! Beautiful landscape! I love the lines and the detail of the field and the clouds coming up in the distance. What a peaceful and serene shot. Kind of like the opposite of your week. I hope things slow for you a bit. A holocaust survivor? Wow! That's a pretty poignant meeting! Great job on this, Phil! And take a breath!
