Found out through the font of knowledge known as 365 that this hellebore is also known as a lenten rose. I think that's rather pretty. This has lovely dusky colours and although it's a bit squiffy and one petal is a bit rain-stained I thought it was still worth scrummaging down on the flower-bed, sticking my head up against the rose-bush and balancing the camera on my nose for a few minutes!
