Sunrise over the eastern shore (39/52)

This is really a first and only - I was woken in the hotel at 4.30am by an elephant running past the bedroom door (!) and realised the sun was about to rise... this being the only time I'm ever likely to have a view of the sun rising in the east over the sea (we were staying in Lowestoft, Britain's most easterly town), I clambered onto the windowsill and sat there, camera poised for ages. Of course it rose over the industrial port. Of course it rose behind a streetlight. But it rose and I got the proof....!
@tonydebont naturally I thought of you! I wondered if I was the only person in the world to see it - and yes, it was a bit magical even if it was mostly grey :)

For a moment before I looked at the large picture I thought you meant a proper elephant! Thought this might be in foreign parts so where! Glad you caught this.......beautiful sunrise it almost looks like the sun peeping through belongs to the street lamp.

Love the stark silhouettes. Well done getting up at that early hour.

Beautiful shot, Phil! An elephant ran past the door???? Sorry I've not been commenting on your shots. I have been really down for the count the past couple months with health issues. I am finally getting everything sorted! I have done mass uploads of photos because I kept getting behind but now I'm all caught up. I hope you're well!

Great shot! I like how it looks like the streetlight is illuminating the sky!
I think one of my friends was in Lowestoft yesterday too! (I'm sure there are lots of people there, but it's not a place you hear in conversation much, then it comes up several times in one day!)

This photo gives the 'crack of dawn' a whole new meaning! Glad you were woken early by 'an elephant'...Ha.! I sleep very lightly too and the slightest noise has me up and about to investigate.
