Well some things haven't changed! We had a pizza for lunch opposite this wonderful building which is still the magistrates' court in central Birmingham. It was designed after an open competition in 1886, to provide the first assize courts in the rapidly growing town of Birmingham. It's faced entirely in deep red terracotta from the clay of Ruabon in North Wales and covered in intricate terracotta ornamentation..I didn't need to spot the statue of Queen Victoria over the entrance to know it was from her era!
As we munched on our pizzas we reflected that lives and fortunes may be changed within, and kind of glad that government cutbacks had meant it was maintained as it had been intended.
You still reading this? Crikey! Thank you ;)
