Karting Diptych 7.4.13

Well you can tell I woke early today! Had another look at yesterday's carting shots and made a diptych - George on top, panned and almost in focus (!) and below the rest of the guys whizzing 'round furiously fast with motion blur. Makes George look almost a cool dude (V for victory sign) but don't tell him I said so...!
It was an expensive hour but they loved it, Cathy's average for the circuit was less than a second slower than George's so she was delighted! I didn't do it this time since I'm still nervous of my back after suffering from a slipping disc last year... and it meant I got to sit down in relative peace with a camera :)
Thanks for calling by - mwah!
That looks brilliant well done. Have to say karting and bad back don't really mix. Stick to the photo side of the sport

@prttblues Wotcha! Came looking for this one in answer to your question about panning... the top shot is panned in that I was following George with the camera and had him slightly in focus. Took more than one whizz past to get the speed/motion right!
The bottom shot was holding the camera still as they went past, so you see the racetrack is in focus and the cars are whizzing.
It's much trickier to do with a 'back screen' rather than a viewfinder.. you try to watch the thing moving and try to watch the camera to check you have it in the screen and then remember to click... much easier with a viewfinder if it's moving quickly.
Hope this helps?
