Had an unusual visit this Easter Sunday afternoon .. drove to nearby Royston to look at an unusual cave they found in 1742 under the town's market... It's a man-made cave, bell-shaped over 7m high, and hollowed out by hand with carvings dating back to the 1300s. The carvings are mostly Christian, with Knights and pagan symbols, leading folk to believe it was a hiding place for the Knights Templar. It was the most unusual place, it could have felt cold and eerie but I found it fascinating.
St Christopher was there, as was St Lawrence and lots of other images we could recognise. These two were particularly interesting to my two children - believed to be Saint George and Saint Catherine (note the wheel) - closest my two will come to Saintliness and about the only time Cathy will be taller than George! :)
@woot Morning! Is this better? I never intended for them to be B&W... when they were next to each other like this I realised one was much darker than the other (lighting in the cave I guess) and did something to even it out - without noticing the change in tone. I remember it as being the warmer tones so am glad you commented about it :)
