Keeping me occupied... by filsie65

Keeping me occupied...

It's taken me about 4 days so far and I'm still only downstairs...
Well I thought if I was stuck home for weeks I might as well get stuck into a job I would otherwise put off.... This is part of the hall wallpaper, painted anaglypta with 2 layers underneath. You can see the beautiful clean plaster to the left! Also, alas they had painted the coving and covered the top of one of the layers in shiny paint so that was an extra challenge. Anyway, I've finished downstairs and painted it white (can't buy coloured paint, it's deemed non-essential) and will do a top-coat in due course. Landing next week and then the dreaded stairwell thereafter.... Much rather be here.
Hope you are enjoying whatever you've been up to. Keep safe :)
Oh my word you have taken on a project...all power to your elbows....I take my hat off to you! Anaglypta & wood chip are the very devil to get off! I know I’ve done some in my time!

I can empathize :-) I just started tearing down 3 layers of wallpaper in the living room but the walls are in such a bad state that I have to go over them with filler or repair plaster (don't really know what it is called in English) to get them smooth enough to paint. I'm not very good at this so it is taking forever.......

@helstor Hi! Yes, we'd call it filler or plaster or most likely by a brand name, Polyfilla. Up the stairs I think the wallpaper was holding the wall together... we are still filling some holes with more layers of filler a few days later.. Keep going, it will be worth it in the end! I have just managed to get a delivery of coloured paint sorted so that will spur me on. The DIY shops are all shut but you can 'click n collect' for essential things that doesn't include paint! I understand but do think that many folk (like me) are trying to make the best of the time at home... Keep safe and sane, love to her ladyship too!
