Whilst on a visit to London yesterday I noticed this lovely statue above the main entrance to Selfridges. Having looked for further information it turns out that this is a statue of the Queen of Time, riding her Ship of Commerce. Harry Selfridge, the American founder, wanted retailing to be seen as a more noble pursuit than simply buying and selling for profit, and even wrote a book called 'The Romance of Commerce', hence this statue over the main door
What a great shot. I've been to Selfridges on numerous occasions in the past and never noticed this - but that was pre-365 days, when I was less observant!
Thank you all for your comments. I've walked passed this statue several times without noticing it before so thought it was well worth a shot this time!
@bkbinthecity thank you for your comment and the fav!
