Ian, Lucy and I had a day trip to Durham and saw this representation of the Lindisfarne Monks carrying St.Cuthberts coffin. Cuthbert a much revered northern saint was much travelled both before, and after his death!
Cuthberts final resting place is in Durham cathedral although he has had several coffins and burial sites. He was sometimes moved to prevent his remains being lost in raids by the Vikings. His remains also survived Henry V111's dissolution of the monasteries.
