Preparations for Illuminating York were in full swing when I took this shot of the valiant battle being fought against the high winds, to put the pieces of Thor's Oak together, and get them upright. I watched and snapped for a while and then went shopping for half an hour. They were still struggling so I went home without a shot of it completed. Ian however went to take pictures of the event and saw it upright.
Illuminating York has become an annual event although a charge is now made to see some of the attractions. It has progressed since it started as a light show on York Minster.
Great candid from those man at work . Looks a hard job to me.

@pyrrhula Thanks Ferry. They really had a tough job as the wind was also gusty. It was worth the effort though and lots of children were posting messages on the tree when we looked at the displays. Katharine
@dolphin Thanks. As you will see Ian is posting pictures of the delights of York's Illuminating festival. Its now in its 6th year and has come a long way from a light show on York Minster. Katharine
