I seem to be spending a lot of time on railway stations, especially between York and Sheffield.I took this shot in the early evening looking towards the footbridge southwards. A train had cleared most of the travellers from the platform and only those who had reached their destination were visible and looking for the exit.
Stations are at the beginning and end of journeys as well as stops and pauses along the way. A bit like life really.
Railway stations gives me always mixed feelings. Sad when someone/you`ve to leave , glad when they/you returns.
and always wandering where and why they `ve to go to/for .
Busy, crowed and never to be stop. Lots of stories there never been told.
Great shot to dream by/muse on.
Lovely capture and the sentiment expressed has stirred the old grey matter. Except for three years in the early 70s I have only rarely used trains on a regular basis. from 1973 to 1976 I commuted each working day on the suburban lines of Melbourne. Lots of memories.
Looks like a dream, the nearest I am to rail station for people travel is about 200 miles away. This looks like a great place to just people watch and maybe sit back and take candid shot. Fabulous capture.
Great station shot and I like the thoughts too. I always remember the trams in Sheffield. Youngest comes home from York uni today after 10 weeks away :)
@malc Thank you. Rail stations are great when they bring back loved ones. Hope he has a safe and prompt journey, it is so nice when they come back for holidays.
