Cinema architecture is always interesting, as many of the buildings have had colourful pasts. This cinema was one of the first purpose-built picture houses in the UK and opened in 1911. Although in the 70s it came close to being demolished, it got a reprieve and is still a functioning cinema today and has been largely restored to its original form. You can see a picture of it from 1911 here: http://landmark.lambeth.gov.uk/display_page.asp?section=landmark&id=13
Beautiful capture of this beautiful cinema. In our country too are some very interesting architecture built cinema`s and but above all with very beautiful interiors.
I agree, there are some cinemas out there in amazing/historic buildings. I went to this cinema a few times many moons ago when I worked in London. Nice to be reminded of it, lovely shot.
@lyndag I agree Lynda, and it's a shame! Particularly somewhere like Brixton which has a bad reputation, it's nice to see all these interesting buildings - Lucy
