York University by fishers

York University

I went to the University to get a shot of historic Heslington Hall, and around which the university was built in the 1960s. Unfortunately it has several areas covered in scaffolding, so that will have to wait for another time.

Instead I had a walk around some of the older campus and took a selection of shots, particularly of some of the older concrete buildings from the 1960s. Many of these have been replaced in recent years, so I wanted to record some of the survivors while they still exist.

The collage shows (top left) a tree trunk carved into a sculpture of birds, one of many sculptures around the campus, (top right) one of the old concrete accommodation blocks, (bottom left) black swans beside the lake, (bottom centre) another of the old concrete accommodation blocks, (bottom right) the Central Hall, projecting into the lake.

Ian, this collage is an excellent way of providing a taste of the University and its buildings - the diversity in styles is pleasing.

Thank you Debbie - I used a collage because I was rather spoiled for choice and wasn't sure what to post. (What a cop-out!)

Thank you Sarah - it really does need blue sky - a grey sky with these grey buildings is a rather depressing view!
