A stage of the Tour de France is taking place in Yorkshire and the county is full of excitement and preparations for this event.
Yellow bicycles are a decorative feature in many places near the route drawing attention to this unique event in the county.
In the villages we have seen these bikes mounted on shop walls, on garage roofs, on garden walls. These two were chained to the lamp post in St. Sampson's square, York, waiting to be allocated their space.
In York, I have seen plenty of yellow bunting drawing attention to the race, but yellow bicycles haven't joined in yet.
I hope they get organised soon as the race starts at the beginning of July.
No worry for being stealing , the chain is redundant. Next year it will be started in our country . My wife once watch it and it was a big disappointment. She was there waiting for more than two hours and .. In a split second the came and where gone.
@pyrrhula Thanks Ferry. I've seen the finish of one of the English bike races and it was over very quickly. I also found horse racing disappointing for the same reason, over too quickly. Katharine
@ceilidh I'm disappointed that I haven't seen any others in York but perhaps they are leaving them till the last minute to be fresh for the races. Katharine
@dolphin There have been a variety of projects, many of them in schools. There are plans for a display locally at Clifton Green which I hope to shoot. Katharine
