New and Old

St. Martin's Church provided a number of photo opportunities.

This shows the view to the west end with a modern organ framed by a medieval arch. The unique mechanical pipe organ has been designed with a glass screen so that we can admire the 1717 cover to a font with an even older and more distinguished story, since it is the font where St Margaret Clitherow was baptised in about 1553.

The church is named after St Martin of Tours, the patron saint of soldiers. His Feast Day is 11th November - Armistice Day.
