The bicycle racks at York Railway Station are often full but I have rarely seen them so full that some bikes had to be parked in the area but not in the rack. I walked down to check and there was no room, like at the inn!
Thanks to Lucy who suggested it would look better with a bit of cropping and in b&w - another Fisher collaboration.
Thought this was Cambridge when I first saw it! They've put double-decker racks in at the station there - though I think you must have to be pretty strong to get your bike up on the top rack!
@dolphin The racks here are double decker ones but I didn't like the effect of the two rows, there was too much going on behind the top row with distracting posters and lamps. katharine
@ivan Thank you. York has always had a lot of cyclists. The end of shift at Rowntrees was always fun to watch, a sea of bikes going through the gates. Katharine
@tonydebont Thank you. Bikes have always been popular in York as a form of transport. The end of shift at Rowntrees was always fun to watch - what seemed like a sea of bikes through the factory gates. Katharine
@ray_milsted Thank you. This was only one set of bike racks at the station. York is quite flat so bikes have always been a popular way of getting to and from work in the city. Katharine
We can do it too. See : https://www.google.nl/search?q=fietsenstalling+amsterdam+centraal+station&rlz=1C1AVSA_enNL446NL446&espv=2&biw=1680&bih=949&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=sd0yVIqPIYesPJndgeAH&ved=0CEsQsAQ
