Outside York Rowing Club I found this rack of boats drying off. I have never seen the boats so closely so I took a look and a few pictures. They look very narrow to me and I have no idea what sort they are - so perhaps someone out there who is more knowledgeable and will let me know!
There are a number of boat houses used by rowing clubs on this short stretch of the River Ouse, including those belonging to St.Johns University and St. Peters School.
York Rowing Club hosts a number of regatta's during the summer months.
We have a boat club near to us . They have there training and games in the same canal I did the old boats pic.s The boats are named by the amount of people that on it. And if there is a helmsmen. ( Twee zonder = two without , means there are two rower , no helmsman. )
Great shot of those nice boats
Thank you for all your lovely comments. Like many of you I was struck by the narrowness of the boats. I wouldn't like to go in one and the water this time of year is far too cold for sensible people like me! Katharine
The orange one looks the narrowest. we see them on Lake Ontario, closer to the shore at the place that's called The Beaches. great to see them all drying out on this whatyoucallit.
