Superlambananas by fishers

Superlambananas

Time for a little bit of fun today - these are just four of the mini Superlanbananas of Liverpool that Ian and I saw on our day out there.

The original superlambanana was 17 foot high and bright yellow, (we never saw it, though I'm not sure how we could miss something that size), was developed for the 1998 ArtTransPennine Exhibition and was both a comment on the dangers of genetic engineering as well as heavily influenced by the history of Liverpool: historically both sheep and bananas were common cargos in the city's docks.

125 mini superlambananas (only two metre's high), were created in 2008, as part of Liverpool's year-long position as European Capital of Culture.

More information about their decoration, locations and role in Charity work can be found at:

The only thing I'm not sure about is if a group of Superlambananas should be called a flock or a bunch!

Thank you for all your lovely comments and favs. These were only a sample of the superlambananas we saw on our day out. They make a fun talking point for visitors to Liverpool.

In 2000 and 2010 there was Horse Mania in Lexington, Kentucky, USA being the horse capitol of the world. Similar. I didn't know about these superlambananas. I have some trouble with that word.
