We were very fortunate in the timing of our visit to Thwaite Mill, because there were only three days during the school summer holidays when the steam crane was to be demonstrated, and our visit was on the last of those three days, so we were able to see the crane in action.
It's old boiler provides a useful load for it to lift, and we see here the boiler being raised into the air. An interesting and educational sight.

I hope you have enjoyed this mini series about Thwaite Mill museum as much as I have enjoyed visiting and researching it. I find it a fascinating insight into the working lives of our ancestors.
