This was one of the first things we saw when we visited Blackburn, Lancashire a few days ago. It's immediately across the road as you leave the railway station. I love the way the child is leaning so far over to rescue his teddy bear, while his grandma holds his hand firmly and looks round as she feels him pulling.
This life size sculpture was created by Alan Wilson of Henley on Thames in 1996 at a cost of £25,000, but it has only been moved to this site quite recently.
Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
Since posting this, I have discovered that there is a similar sculpture at Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port, but with a mother rather than a grandmother, and a football instead of a teddy bear.
