Quite appropriately, yesterday morning on Remembrance Day, while catching a train, I spotted this train stood at platform 10 on a service to Newcastle, with each end decorated with poppies.
In recent years remembrance seems to have become a more prominent feature of life in the UK after an earlier period of decline. The two minute silence is much more likely to take place in shopping centres, railway stations and other public places than it was only a few years ago, and I'm very pleased to see that - the massive sacrifces of those in uniform really should be remembered.
Well spotted, Ian. Here, poppy day has always been held the same, with all the highest dignitaries laying wreaths at the foot of a national War Memorial. Otherwise the selling of artificial poppies in the streets is a past.
Thank you all for your nice comments, they are very much valued.
For us, remembrance has been particularly powerful this year, as you will see in the next shot that we post.
Ian
Thank you both for your comments!
