The pine cones were caught in the reddish late afternoon sunlight, in the country park at Rawcliffe Bar country park, on the edge of York.
The country park was created as part of a major park and ride development on the north side of the city. Several park and ride sites have been built around the fringes of the city, and have had a significant effect on reducing traffic on the narrow roads in the city centre.
The country park itself was built to the south of the park and ride site, and involved the planting of some 2000 trees and 1500 shrubs, as well as creating a small lake. The trees and shrubs are now beginning to mature, making the park increasingly attractive year by year.
Thank you all for your lovely comments - good to hear from you all!
