Frozen Fruit by fishers

Frozen Fruit

York's Ice Trail took place last weekend, with ice sculptures at thirty five locations around the city centre. This shot is part of one of the sculptures, which was of an old style barrow market stall, and which was located in the Shambles Market.

Ice sculptures have been displayed around the city for several years. This year's trail was probably the longest yet, but was well worth the effort - despite the rather misleading map in the Ice Trail leaflet, which made some of the sculptures a challenge to find.

To me this is one of my favourite events in the lead-up to Christmas in York.

Surely York isn't that cold! It must be difficult to house the sculptures. Fascinating sculpture and great shot of it.

What a fascinating idea...and a welcome change from tried, tired, tested and exhumed from previous years.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are most appreciated!

Sorry for my absence over the last few days, but illness, and the general pre Christmas hustle and bustle have rather curtailed my photographic endeavours. It's amazing that the lead-up to Christmas always ends up as a last minute rush.

The ice sculptures are one of my favourite events in the lead-up to Christmas, although the unusually warm conditions did mean that many of them were melting rather rapidly. leaving only an impression of what they were meant to be.
