Most of my photos that feature buildings tend to be historical in nature, but today for a change I'm featuring a brand new building.
Katharine and I walked into York city centre on Sunday, and while Katharine had an opticians appointment, I went for a walk along Terry Avenue beside the River Ouse towards Rowntree Park.
This shot shows a recently completed Roomzzz Aparthotel close to the riverside, and designed to deal with flooding which is fairly common here. The darker brickwork around the lower part of the building shows the base which could be surrounded by floodwater, with the aparthotel built above.
I liked the way that many of the trees previously on the site have been retained as part of the development.
Despite Covid-19, York seems to be in the midst of a boom of development of visitor accommodation, with a number of large developments in progress.
Those of you who have been following the saga of Katharine's health problems will be impressed that after her appointment, we walked home again, so in total Katharine walked around 4 miles, her longest walk this year, so her progress to good health continues.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
Thank you too for all your good wishes for Katharine.
Although this aparthotel is designed to deal with flooding, I'm not sure if there is still access to the building during floods. I think another walk is called for to find out!
Glad to hear the progress, 4 miles is a good long walk for her. well done
Lovely to see buildings going up that take the flooding into account.
Congrats with Katharine's health progress.
