I like my burgers well cooked please!

A blaze broke out at the Burger King fast food restaurant at Clifton Moor, York, at about 14:40 BST last Thursday.

Firefighters were at the scene for about six hours as they brought the flames under control.

No-one was hurt, but the building, situated next to a large Tesco store in the retail park, suffered extensive damage.

Firefighters were back on the scene on Friday to check for any hot spots, but they had gone by the time I went to take some shots.

This is the second major fire at the Clifton Moor shopping area, with the B&M Home Store being completely destroyed less than three years ago.

Interesting - our Burger King in Bedford has also burned down twice! Probably some vegan with a grudge...

One has to suspect foul play, I suppose. Interesting, I suspect the stock-holding were perfect fuel for the fire!

That looks like a good job made of it! Looks as if it will be a while before it’s up and running again.

Thank you all for your interesting comments, they are very much appreciated.

I've seen no indications yet of the cause of the fire, except that it seems to have started in the roof space. Inevitably there has been speculation about the possible role of vegan extremists, though it seems unlikely. Always sad to see such damage, but to end on a slightly more positive note, it is described online as 'temporarily closed' so it seems likely to rise again from the ashes.

@bybri

Thank you Bri. A rather sadder image than I normally like to post.
