This short is a clearer view of the garden immediately in front of the York house called Goddards which was in the foreground of yesterday's shot.
The gardens in total cover an area of around 5 acres, and are broken down into what are described on the National Trust website as 'rooms'. The website says: 'The gardens are divided into rooms as a nod to the arts and crafts style inspiration. The idea behind the rooms was that of a continuation of the house extending beyond the walls and into the garden. The outdoor rooms, similarly to those in the house, each perform a separate function with hedges and shrubs providing the structure.' The gardens slope gradually down towards the edge of York racecourse.
This shot is taken from the terrace immediately outside the house and shows a formal pond that would originally have been surrounded by a rose garden.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and fav, they are very much appreciated.
The gardens at Goddards are being solwly changed back to their original state, where possible. It would be lovely to see the lawns here converted back to being rose gardens.

Thank you Mickey. There is a large mix of garden types here, so it is lovely to move through a variety of garden styles.
