For a number of years York has had a reluctance to have a big wheel located close to the city centre. The first big wheen was located on land at the National Railway Museum, and later in the grounds of the Principal Hotel, beside the railway station.
The big wheel enthusiasts were eventually successful in locating a big wheel in the heart of the city, in St Sampsons Square, in the autumn of 2022, but it was only allowed to stay for about a month, and had to be removed before the Christmas Market.
The latest big wheel has now arrived and is again located in St Sampson Square, but only allowed to stay for about a month.
This shot of the latest big wheel was taken from Scarborough Bridge, looking east towards the city centre, and with a varied array of chimneys in the foreground. Sadly we had quite a lot of cloud yesterday when this shot was taken. I hope to repeat the shot on a sunnier day before it is removed again.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I haven't been on any of the various big wheels to have appeared in York. My head for heights isn't as good as it once was, so it doesn't seem like a good idea.
It is impressive to watch the big wheels being erected or demolished. It is quite a quick process, since they are designed appropriately, and are soon ready to go to another town or city once they are taken down here in York.

Thank you Pat, I did like the contrast between the wheel and the chimneys.
