celebrating milestones

have you been to a filipino party - a birthday, milestones, baptism, graduation, wedding, or perhaps a death anniversary? you haven't? well, if you like good food, find a filipino friend and get yourself invited. warning: you'll be stuffed so come with an almost empty stomach and a big appetite. if you want seconds but you're too full yet haven't gone the rounds of all offerings, not to worry. there will be take out containers.

typical comment: "i've been to a filipino party! oh. my. God!"

went to jacksonville, florida to join in the celebration of my only remaining living maternal aunt's 90th and my cousins held a luau for her. above is just the initial set up at the food tent; they couldn't get the other stuff because apparently i was blocking the way with my tripod and camera. and when all was set up, i was too busy with my lobster and crab legs to bother taking any photos.

I agree with Kathryn @houser934: what's a party without too much food? Your tale matches with recollection of celebrations in my birthplace, Cosenza, in Southern Italy!
