Alien hiding place

A very busy weekend so another from earlier in the week. These are wire putts (putchens) and I found them stored under some dense trees. I thought they looked like aliens hiding.
They llok really cool!

They look really neat - what are they used for? Remind me of the wire cages we use when growing tomatoes.

@milaniet They are used to catch salmon in the river Milanie. The open end faces upstream and the fish go up with the tide and then get pulled back as it runs out. Once they're caught, facing the narrow end, they can't reverse out. These are wire putts but they were traditionally made of willow and my father was one of the last to make them locally.
