There are 12 masterpieces from The National Gallery which are currently on loan to museums in the UK. In June we saw one of them, the Rokeby Venus by Velasquez, in the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool.Today we saw Botticelli’s Venus and Mars in the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge. It’s a fascinating painting with so much hidden detail.
I’ve seen this one, also the Haywain in Bristol. The Bristol gallery were also exhibiting alongside some beautiful cloud studies in oils, also by Constable, on loan from the V&A. Brilliant idea!
