Saying Goodnight by francoise

Saying Goodnight

Mr Pig here. Crystal and I quite inadvertently opened the door to a whole new problem. Miss F.'s Christmas creatures have been arriving in droves. In a way, this is good, since there are so many more eyes watching out for the squealers (though I don't really know which creatures are responsible and which are not). It turns out that the squealers are avariciously sociable, which is a good thing, I think. No more fear of strangers for them! The world is full of potential new friends and they are in seventh heaven meeting Miss F.'s Christmas santas, angels, snowmen, bears, and who knows what all will come next. I'm happy encouraging them, but at some point it was bedtime. "no, no, no!!!!!" cried my overexhausted offspring. I just about to put my trotters firmly down when Crystal suggested that they could make a final round so they could say goodnight to their new friends. It sounded like a good idea, but there are so many!. The squealers took the idea quite literally. They insisted on saying good night to Each and Every One. I was absolutely unable to speed up the process by even a millisecond. It took about an hour and a half! I must make a better plan for tomorrow night's bedtime as there will be many more arrivals over the course of the day tomorrow. Eventually we would have to start saying goodnight at 2 in the afternoon in order to get the squealers to bed at a reasonable hour.
LOL this sounds like the routine my younger son and his wife used to go through putting our grandson Isaac to bed when he was younger. They had to stop at every family picture and say good night- even if that person had been said "good night" to already. Maybe you could stand the little squealers in one central spot and just turn toward all the "good night" greeting recipients as you scan the room. Cute shot!

Lovely egg cup and enjoying the story. Sounds like it is coming from experience.

Methinks Crystal owes you an apology, since you had them headed to bed when she got them side tracked to good night visits. Why don’t you teach the squealers a bedtime prayer during which they can mention all the new friends by name, instead of trotting all around to say goodnight!

Miss F., methinks you know a lot about pigs and children

Your fable reminds me of George Orwell's 'Animal Farm’!
