Enjoying the Milkweed

This is just about as much of the overcast sky as looked good in a picture. Taken for get-pushed challenge from Marco P., who said "1. take a smaller aperture, macro shot than you normally do (i notice you seem to sit around f5-f10) and take advantage of the increased depth of field. 2. alternatively, take a shot where the sky features prominently in your composition. Bonus points if you combine the two!” This is about F25 (I think this lens length goes up to about f29
@marcop The sky was not amenable to being in picture this week as we had nothing but rain and overcast. It was, indeed, different to look at the results from a narrower aperture. First, you can see features in the background such as the electric pole. But more relevant, the objects themselves are more in focus. I used to do a lot with very wide aperture (on a little point-and-shoot camera), then crop in to get a close-up. Using the narrower aperture reminds me a bit of the results I'd get with that camera.

Listening to the news I have been worried about you. Take it you are not near the flooding.

@francoise yeah when I took a few shots on the smaller apertures on my macro lens, I thought the depth reminded me of my old point and shoot. But it did make setting up a miniature scene quite a bit easier, because wide open my focus was only about 1mm deep. I really like this shot and how it leads your eye up to the top. It's a shame it's not a blue sky, but it sounds like you've been pretty lucky having avoided the floods!

I am so pleased to be your get-pushed partner for the week. I have been following your project for a while now, and have always admired your talent.
I think an excellent challenge for you would be to take some sporting action shots since I do not see many action photos in your project. My challenge to you is an extension of the challenge given to you by Jay Butterfield a couple of months ago.
There must be sports games or tournaments in your area? Soccer, baseball, horse racing, bowling, or even school sports leagues?
Check it out. Feel free to decline this challenge if you wish - I can issue you a different one.
You may have noticed the lack of activity from me every weekend, which is because hubby works off farm during the week and weekends are devoted to farm work with him. So, sorry for not getting you challenge to you earlier!
