Mother's Row by francoise

Mother's Row

This picture was taken a few days ago, as it rained again all day today. I vaguely remember that luminary called “Sun.” In order along the fence here you can see a swan planter, some peonies and a buddleia bush. Interestingly, each came from a mother.
I expressed a desire for a swan planter after I saw them somewhere or other. But, this being before the days of internet shopping where every item known to mankind is available at your fingertips, I couldn’t figure out where to procure one. My mother searched high and low all over Chicago and presented me with not one, but two. I was really quite touched since my complaints to her about swan planters had been rather random conversation, not at all along the lines of a necessity she had to take care of.
The peonies had been in Joe’s mother’s garden. The sister who lives there now had dug them up and when we passed by on some other business she gave me a couple plastic bags of peonies. They are flourishing, despite the last one being too close to the buddleia. That bush came from Kathy’s garden. Kathy was not technically my mother, but was definitely a “mother of the heart.”
All three of these grand ladies are gone now. I hadn’t realized that I had inadvertently created a “Mother’s Row” along the fence. Looking at the picture, I’m thinking that the swan planter might deserve something better than weeds. I think a colony of clover has moved into this one. Or maybe I’ll just let the clover grow in it.
This is a very graceful swan and would encourage anyone to rush out into your garden and view! Don't let the weeds grow over it - what about a very small pond?

The swan planter is beautiful. Not something that is often seen in South Africa.
