This lighthouse was completed in 1910 and was commissioned to built after 29 ships were damaged in a single storm. The beacon of this lighthouse was recently lit in May 2023 in honour of the late singer Gordon Lightfoot who wrote and sang a song about the tragic end to the ship the Edmund Fitzgerald,
