Locomotive shop floor. by gamelee

Locomotive shop floor.

Horwich Works was a railway works built in 1886. The works closed in 1983. The last steam locomotive was despatched after overhaul on 4 May 1964 and at its peak it employed over 3000 staff. The old shop floor in my photo is soon to be demolished, I took the photo through a hole in a fence.
Good photo. Says loads even beofre reading the text.

It's something I keep saying to myself, I must take some photos of a building that's about to be knocked down, then I leave it a couple of days and then....it's gone.

Wonderful shot Lee, hope you got plenty more, places like this with so much history need documenting before it's too late.

A great shot of this very sad scene - so many industrial sites disused and then demolished. Such a waste.
