Yarrow Reservoir. by gamelee

Yarrow Reservoir.

Normally the water level would almost be at the trees.

It's interesting to note that this site in the early 1800s and before two large embankments were built, was a valley with a hamlet named Alance at its centre. If you can imagine the water in my photo being a clock face, at eleven is where the hamlet stood. There also stood a bridge, for this was where the river Yarrow entered the valley. When the water gets low like this the route that the river took can still be seen.
Wow -- the effect of the draught could not be more powerfully conveyed!

Nice capture of the Reservoir. It is certainly very low. The water left lots of interesting lines around the Reservoir.

Nice commentary. We really are suffering from the dry spell. One of our reservoirs rose by 25 cms in the last two weeks! It's recovery time.

It would be interesting to take another shot when the level is back to normal as a comparison.
