The Dovecote Tower, commonly known as the Pigeon Tower was built in 1910 by Lord Leverhulme as part of his extensive Rivington estate. The first two floors were home to ornamental doves and pigeons, whilst at the top was a small sitting room that was used as a lookout over the boating lake, and by Lady Lever as a sewing and music room.
What an unique and quirky Dovedote and interesting information ! - What a wonderful place for Lady Lever to have her sewing and music room . You can imagine her delicately sewing a sampler with gentle music playing and she could occasionally look across the land ( oops ! got carried away !! ) A beautiful landscape on a cold evening ! fav
What an amazing building - I don't know that I'd like to use a sitting or sewing room situated above a whole lot of doves and pigeons! It looks like something you might see in a fantasy movie. Your photo of it is fabulous. :)
@gamelee Sorry, I was just curious. It is subtle and well faded, not the usual tight halo that I end up with when I bump the slider too far, so I thought to ask.
