We have a bountiful harvest of rose hips this year. I don't think they are that tasty because the birds kind of ignore them but, if the winter is long and cold, I've noticed that sometimes, towards the end, they can be seen pecking at them. Not a choice food but better than starving, maybe. In any case, they add a nice cheerful colour to the garden in the depths of a snowy winter. ( This is a shot from last week, just processed now. It's been so hot and humid the last few days I've avoided taking my camera outside, from the air-conditioned house, for fear of getting condensation in my lens.)
