On the Bank

Found this clump of yellow iris on the side of the pond. I thought it didn't look like a usual wild species and so tried to do some investigation. Seems it might be the Yellow Flag Iris which originates from Europe and Asia and is considered as an invasive species over here. Looks very pretty, but is it evil? And should I turn it in to the Invasive Plant Police?
Beautiful detail. We have these by the side of our stream in the garden - they haven't invaded any other part of the land!!

They are very pretty. It's hard to acknowledge their destructiveness ... but there are dire warnings out about them, aren't there. So aggressive. Surely the pond owner is aware and will try to keep them under control.

@quietpurplehaze @aecasey I'm not sure if it is the case here but, I think, in some instances the problem with invasiveness occurs when the species gets imported but the usual, predators, diseases, or insects, that keep it in check in it's place of origin don't.
The land around the pond is public land, owned by the town not sure how close a watch they keep on it. Couple of years ago an abandoned bicycle was left hanging at the pond edge for over a year! https://365project.org/gardencat/365/2014-04-01
