Fragrant and fair as the rose
Be the bright hours that unclose. ...J.C.
This photo was taken at a private home in the Sacramento area. It is called Pauline's Garden, a woman in her 80's who has lived and care for her massive garden for 50 years. Two acres of breathtaking plants, vegetation and flowers. It is like a secret oasis that blocks everything out so you do not know where you are...Paradise? It is so peaceful and tranquil with trails, benches, an outdoor deck to sit and take in the beauty. They open their home once or twice a year (Spring and Fall) to the public but it has become so popular, it has become overwhelming for the older couple. Luckily, I was able to get a small private tour.
@cutekitty Thank you Kitty! It was high up on a trellis so I wasn't able to smell it. Plus this garden was incredible and 2 acres of flowers, vegetation and plants...a secret oasis taken care of by a woman in her 80's who has lived there for 50 years! But, I loved the look and the name of the rose. To me, it reminded me of peppermint twist.
@tonygig Thank you Tony! I added some detail on my post regarding the place this shot was taken. You may find it interesting being a garden and floral friend.
@megpicatilly Thank you Catherine! The petals are red and white variegated...no light is shining through. The rose is streaked and spotted and quite unusual.
Lovely on black - what a perfect name for the rose - and what a delightful spot to find - how generous of the family to share their passion with others.
