There is no more
intrepid explorer
then a kitten.

When Katniss came to me in March 2016, she was a stray. She was a pregnant stray. I knew nothing about cats but started reading everything I could on the subject. I started feeding her and looking into a rescue group to see if they could find her a home. When I mentioned she was pregnant, they said if she trusted me, she might bring me her kittens. We do not know where she had the litter or how many there were. Katniss did bring us one kitten, the chosen one. I decided to bring them both in the house. I turned our guest bathroom into The Four Seasons Hotel, with maid service...ME! Our exercise room became the cat/kitten playroom. My husband and I would sit down there in lawn chairs every night for hours with mama and kitten to play and socialize with them. They were our entertainment ! It was THE most fun experience and Happy Place for 12 weeks and I learned so much! At the right time, I was able to find Panda a home on my own. She was the cutest kitten with the most expressive eyes. My friend called her “crazy eyes” but I thought she was ''bright eyed and bushy tailed"! She could be a hand full and on a mission to use up a couple of her 9 lives before she left for her forever home. Katniss turned out to be a very good mama to Panda, though she was young at only a year old. I later heard through the grapevine that a litter was found and that the mama and one kitten had disappeared. I chose to believe that this was Katniss' litter and the other kittens were rescued.
Wonderful collage and your sweet story brought me to tears. Bless your kind heart :). Warning: kitties are addictive and the sickness can start anytime. I had cats all my life and grew up with them. They lived around the place and in the barn, but I never had a relationship with one until suddenly, out of the blue, a stray cat stole my heart. Now, I love all kitties :). I am happy for Katniss and Panda.
AWWWW IT'S PANDA!! Happy to say I was around for the entire birth and learning session: i.e. when CC's love of kitties began. It's so good to see Panda again. I know she's happy in her new forever home but I do miss seeing her everyday. I love the collage and the matting you chose for this post. Just purrrrrrrfect in every way. ❤️
@teiko Thank you! I love all kitties now as well. I never thought I would see the day because I was so allergic and had to learn to turn my back and walk away. Now, I have to talk with every cat I see, feed strays, etc. Panda was an absolute joy to raise and Katniss stole my heart permanently! I had no intention of keeping either but...you know how that goes! :) :)
Many thanks for taking the time to read Panda's story. She was so darling and it was a fun experience to raise her. I knew absolutely nothing about cats and kittens before last year. It opened up a whole new joy!
