Art washes away
from the soul
the dust of
every day life.

After our day at the Kentucky Horse Park and Keeneland, we went to downtown Lexington for dinner. Afterwards, we strolled down the street where there was quite a happy crowd enjoying music and drink at the Thursday night activity at the Fifth Third Bank Pavillion. There was also an artist painting the historic Lexington Courthouse and we walked in to see the Bluegrass Tavern that carries 800 different bourbons! Wow.
We also went inside the First National Bank Building (also on the National Register of Historic Places) to see 21C, a contemporary art museum and boutique hotel chain. It was so interesting to walk around and look at the artwork which was all so different and unique. What a great 12 hour adventure!
Three pieces from the collage:
There was a cool huge and colorful ceiling light in the entry called Spectraline 2016 made by SOFTlab (American) from dichroic acrylic, aluminum and LEDs. It was inspired by the ordered asymmetry of crystals. Lit from within by LEDs, the large crystalline structures cast colored light onto the surrounding space, using it as a canvas.
The middle photo on the bottom row was titled What is Forever Anyway, made from wedding dresses that have been embroidered with quotes and an audio playing where women are discussing their thoughts on marriage and relationships.
The far right bottom photo was a moving images art piece that showed someone packing a suitcase by projection.
