Mosaic is an art form which uses small pieces of materials placed together to create a unified whole.

A photo mosaic is a picture made up of various other pictures in which each "pixel" is another picture, when examined closely.

Today, personal computers are powerful enough to create photo-tiled pictures in a relatively short amount of time.
