I love all the soft focus flower images I view in this project so I decided that was my personal challenge for the day. I did find the soft focus a bit difficult . . . I am usually quite obsessed with getting a sharp focus so this went against my normal tendency. I welcome any and all suggestions for improvement.
I love the colours but I find my vision is directed mainly to the blue petals. Not sure if that is just because I love that colour:) A bouquet is a nice gift for yourself.
I think you've managed a nice sharp focus on the front of the rose on the left, and your shallow dof has allowed most of the rest of the bouquet to be blurred.
Love the colors and the softening effect. The blues and purples make a wonderful backing for the pink roses. Don't know enough to offer any suggestions. Haven't tried deliberately working a soft focus shot - but looks like it produces a neat picture. Fav
Beautiful work Gayle. I struggle with the sort focus too. One of my objectives with this project was to improve the sharpness of my photos which I have been able to do. @lisainstpete idea is a good one if you do use LR.
I love the colours in this. I really struggle with the idea of soft focus too. I have the same obsession as you. Like Jen, my eye is also drawn to the central blue leaf (My favourite colour too).
@merrelyn Thank you for your very nice comment, Merrelyn! I think I should have positioned the entire blue stalk back behind the roses and perhaps it wouldn't have been such a distraction. Or maybe take it out altogether. These are good lessons for me going forward...I need to get in the habit of checking the composition multiple times. :-)
I love the colors and the focus, but I do agree that it would be even stronger with the blue leaves in the background and blurred. My eye wants to go to the rose on the left but keeps getting pulled back to that pretty blue. Such great texture on those rose petals, though. :)
@sarahsthreads Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, Sarah! I totally agree about the blue leaves. Thank you also for going back to view and fav the Thistle photo! Much appreciated! :-)
