Purple Prickly Pear Cactus by gaylewood

Purple Prickly Pear Cactus

This Purple Prickly Pear Cactus is also called Santa Rita Prickly Pear. I hadn't noticed it before today...that happens quite often now that I'm taking photos every day. Now that I take the time to stop and observe my surroundings I am amazed at the multitude of things I discover.
Like the purple outline

Love all those prickles!! The flowers in the background are also beautiful.

What a super combination against the coreopsis - the texture differences are great. I so agree on how much more I see - and how much more I've learned about what I'm seeing - since I got serious about looking for pictures! A definite plus.

Nice find! I have seen it a few times. I think the Prickly Pear is the prettiest of the cactus plants.

Love the purple edge on the cactus... my daughter has moved to Tuscon, Arizona so I'm just getting to know that environment. Love the focus and depth of field!

Great shot, I love the colours in the background as well as on the Cacti. I know what you mean about noticing things you didn't before taking shots each day.

Yes, taking photographs turns the world into a visual treasure house, I've found. I like the comp, dof and texture in this capture.

You are quite right. It is wonderful to observe things that we never noticed before and then be interested enough to look them up and learn. It is one of the things about photography that I love. Purple prickly pear is a new concept to me too!

I meant to say, It is looking great here. You have great lighting to give a rich texture.
