This is where I spent my morning . . . three hours sitting in the dentist's chair having a crown put in. I do like my dentist because he makes sure my procedures are relatively painless...he's very good with the numbing needle. I must be a glutton for punishment because I'm going back for another crown on the 27th.
Obviously I was nervous and shaky when I took this photo before my appointment . . . everything is a bit blurry. :-)
How I feel for you. I don't have a good time at the dentist, although they have always been very kind and lovely. Three hours! Oh my. I would have fainted.
It looks like you at least had a nice view out the windows :). My dentist also takes 3 hours for a crown, but he makes them right there on the spot -- and he has a television in every room so his patients won't get bored while the crown is baking. I hope that your next crown is painless also!
Oh I get that! I am going through the process of getting an implant after losing a molar through a previous dentist's bad-handling of a new white filling - he fractured the tooth and I got an abscess ... Anyway, long story short, the implant is now in, but I still need to get the crown fitted. My last appointments are coming up in February! There is nothing nice about going to the dentist! Unfortunately! Nice record for your journal though.
Not the best place to spend half a day. I really hate sitting on a chair like that with my arms crossed doing nothing while somebody plays with my teeth.
@helenhall Thank you for commenting, Helen! Like yours, my dentist is very kind...always concerned and trying to make sure I'm in the least amount of pain possible. Three hours was a bit much...I didn't faint but I almost fell asleep a couple of times. :-)
@suzanne234 Thanks so much for commenting, Suzanne! Yes, three hours was definitely a long time to be sitting in that chair and I'm happy to say that by the time I got home things were not so blurry. :-)
@radiogirl Thank you so much for your comment, Kathy! Fortunately, my dentist does everything he can to make sure appointments are not totally unpleasant experiences. I really appreciate that about him. :-)
@365projectorgjenfurj Thank you for commenting, Jen! Several times during those three hours the thought crossed my mind that I would have preferred general anesthesia. I don't think it was an option, though. :-)
@happysnaps Thank you so much for your comment, Valerie! You are so right...as much as most people don't enjoy going to dentists, we certainly do need them to keep our teeth healthy which in turn contributes to our overall good health. :-)
@amyk Thanks so much for commenting, Amy! Good luck with your crown replacement later this month. This is crown #3 for me with this dentist and #4 is scheduled for February 27th. :-)
@haskar Thank you so much for your comment! It was a bright sunny morning and yes, the shadows were quite nice. I have to admit...I didn't notice them at the time. :-)
@dsp2 Thanks so much for commenting, Dinah! Yes, it was definitely a nice view and I spent a lot of time watching birds flying around/landing on trees...I was trying to identify as many as possible. My dentist makes the crown right there on the spot also, which I really like. This is the third one he's made for me like that and fortunately the appointments have been relatively painless. :-)
@jamibann Thank you so much for commenting, Issi! Oh, I am so sorry you had to go through the experience of losing a molar and getting an implant. Dental implants involve 2-3 surgical procedures, don't they? I watched a video about them in the waiting room before my appointment yesterday. I hope your last appointments in February go well. I'm sure you will be very happy to have that whole experience behind you. :-)
@sangwann Thanks so much for your comment, Dione! I did feel like I lost half a day there and you described the situation perfectly...right down to the arms crossed. :-)
@merrelyn Thank you for commenting, Merrelyn! Yes, it was a long time to be in that chair. I tried to keep my mind off the dental drill sounds so I was thinking of some interesting February macro shots. I did order that bokeh kit with the discs cut in specific shapes so I know I'll use at least one of those for a February photo. The kit should arrive tomorrow or Monday. :-)
@tunia Thanks so much for your comment, Tunia! You're so right...when I got home from my appointment I was so happy I had my photo for the day because I didn't feel like even thinking about taking a photo at that point. :-)
@tremerryn Thank you so much for your comment! I felt so much better today and I was so happy I didn't have to spend any time in a dentist's chair. :-)
@bokehdot Thanks so much for commenting, Michelle! Isn't it amazing how just the sight of a dentist's chair can make us all nervous and jittery?!?! :-)
@craftymeg Thank you so much for your comment, Margaret! I agree, spending time in the dentist's chair is MUCH better than dealing with a toothache. :-)
I hate the dentist too ever since I was a kid. It doesn't really hurt anymore but I still associate him with pain...haha. I'd rather go to the doctor any day. Hope your appointment went well.
